Umhoefer, Della (2 SEP 1893 - 2 AUG 1903)
At about nine o’clock on Sunday morning, Aug. 2nd, 1903, Della the little daughter of Paul Umhoefer of this city (Colby, Clark Co., Wis.), passed away in the Doege Hospital at Marshfield. In perfect health but a week before, her untimely death was a blow not only to her bereaved parents, but came as a shock to a large circle of loving friends and relatives to whom she had greatly endeared herself. Her bright and cheerful disposition which had won the affection of all who knew her will ever be remembered by them with a sense of deepest grief.
Della Umhoefer was born at Cherokee, Marathon Co., Wis., on Sept. 2nd, 1893 and was therefore nine years and eleven months old at the time of her death. She was taken sick with appendicitis on Monday, July 27th, and Dr. Freeman was called upon to attend her. An operation was however found necessary and she was taken to Marshfield on Friday as a last resort. The disease had however, gained such headway that the operation performed by Dr. Doege proved but a temporary relief and she died on Sunday morning at 9 o’clock. The funeral services were held in St. Kilian’s Church and were attended by a number of relatives and a host of friends.
