Ransom, N. C. (27 NOV 1832 - 22 MAR 1904)

News of the death of Mr. Ransom was received here late last week and for the benefit of his many friends in Unity, Wis. and vicinity we reprint a portion of a lengthy obituary notice from the Palmyra Enterprise:

"Mr. Ransom was born in Maryland, Otsego Co., N.Y., Nov. 27, 1832, and died at Palmyra, Wis., March 22, 1904.

In 1845 he came to Wisconsin with his parents and settled at Sharon, Walworth Co., afterward moving to Concord, Jefferson Co., where he lived until 1875, when he moved to Unity, Clark Co. Since 1892 he has lived at Milwaukee, Ocnonomowoc, Sullivan and Palmyra, moving into the village but a few weeks ago."

He was married to Miss Catherine O. Coggins Nov. 11, 1843, and to them were born six children, three of whom, with his wife, survive him: Mrs. D.E. Marsh, Palmyra, Major Arthur Ransom, who represents the Mutual Life Insurance Co., Milwaukee, and Herbert E. Ransom, who is in the office of the Wis. Central R.R. at Fond du Lac. (Unity Register)
