Brooks, Jessie Priscilla (Marriage - 16 Aug. 1935)

A very pretty wedding took place on August 16, when Miss Jessie Priscilla Brooks, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. J. H. Brooks, was united in marriage to Mr. Donald Thomas Ward, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry C. Ward of New Haven, Conn.

The double ring ceremony took place in the arbor of the flower garden of the Brooks home at 1 o’clock, with the Rev. G. W. Longenecker reading the services.

The bridal procession marched through an evergreen festooned aisle leading to the flower-banked altar. The festoons were joined to white posts with a tiny bouquet of garden flowers.

The bride was given away by her father. Her gown, which was made with a short train, was white mouse-line de Soi over white taffeta and was trimmed with lace medallions which were worn on her mother’s wedding dress. She wore a long veil which was caught up with orange blossoms, and carried a colonial bouquet.

The maid of honor, Miss Ariel Wallace of Milwaukee, sorority sister of the bride, wore a yellow organdy gown over yellow silk satin, with a green taffeta sash.

The matron of honor, Mrs. Thomas Samuel, of Indianapolis, Ind., a friend of the bride, wore a green organdy dress over green silk satin with a yellow taffeta sash. Both maid and matron of honor wore tiny pink rose-buds in their hair and carried colonial bouquets.

Miss Priscilla Brooks, of Kalamazoo, Mich., cousin of the bride, carried the bride’s veil. She wore a rose colored silk metalasse crepe gown and a colonial corsage.

Mr. Harry Snavely, of New Rochelle, N. Y., a Yale classmate of the groom, was best man.

The Rev. Paul White of this city sang "Oh Promise Me," accompanied on the piano by Mrs. W. D. Brooks of Kalamazoo, Mich., aunt of the bride. Mrs. Brooks also played Mendelssohn’s Wedding March.

A wedding luncheon was served to forty guests, the color scheme being pastel shades. Between courses, Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Brooks and daughter, Miss Winona, played several beautiful selections on the piano and vilions. Also Rev. Paul White sang "At Dawing."

The waitress were the Misses Ruth Zimmermann, Polly Thompson and Jane Huntley.

Mr. Archie Van Gorden of Neillsville took moving pictures of the entire wedding.

Mrs. Ward is a young lady of whom this community is particularly proud. In her childhood and in her school days she developed the friendship of all who knew her. Her friends here have followed with much interest her college career and her later professional work, and with her into her new life will go the most sincere good wishes of a large circle of devoted admirers.

She was a member of the Neillsville High School graduating class of 1927, attended Lawrence College and was graduated from the Yale University School of Nursing. She was a member of the Zata Tau Alpha Sorority, and is a nurse under the American Red Cross. Since graduating, she has been doing public health work in New Haven, Conn., and the past year in Bordentown, N. J.

Mr. Ward graduated from the Sheffield School of Science, Yale University and was on the Yale Record Board for two years as cartoonist; and a member of the Sigma Xi fraternity. He is an industrial engineer and holds a responsivle position with the General Electric Company at Bridgeport, Conn. While the groom is not generally known here, he made a favorable impression upon those who met him during his visit in Neillsville, Wis.

The young couple left immediately for northern Wisconsin to spend a week at the lakes, motoring from there on to the Soo and through Tor- onto to Montreal. They will reside in Stratford, Conn.

The out of town guests included Mr. and Mrs. Harry C. Ward, New Haven, Conn.; Harry Snavely, New Rochelle, N. Y.; Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Brooks and daughters, Priscilla and Winona, Kalamazoo, Mich.; Mrs. C. H. Dowsett and son, Charles and Watseka, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Zindell, *[rest cut off.]
