Schroeder, Karl August Herman (13 Sept. 1853 - 1935)

Karl August Herman Schroeder died last Friday evening at 6 o’clock after an illness of three weeks in his home at Globe. Mr. Schroeder was born Sept. 13, 1853 in Zatten, Brandenburg, Germany. There he grew to manhood. There, too he met and in 1882 married Augusta Lueck. Two children, a boy and a girl died in Zatten in their infancy. With relatives the Schroeder family immigrated to America in 1887. They arrived in Baltimore with two very sick children, where the infants died and were buried. Mr. Schroeder at once settled down in Globe, living with the Erich Schoenheer family for two years. Then he bought the farm which he cleared and on which he was privileged to die. Enjoying health throughout his life, he took sick three weeks ago, his heart failing him. He reached the ripe old age of 82 years, 1 month and 13 days. Through death he parted from the widow, one daughter, Mrs. Arnold Henchen, two sisters, a brother and six grandchildren.
