Brown, Roscoe (October 7, 1884-December 12, 1936)

Roscoe Brown of Christie passed away Saturday, December 12, 1936, the cause of his death being pneumonia. He was 52 years, 2 months and 25 days old.

Roscoe was born in the Town of Weston, October 7, 1884, to Theodore & Maryetta (Ransom) Brown. As a young man he spent his time at various kinds of work in different localities. On March 30, 1918, he married Ethel L Campbell. They settled down to farming in the Town of Weston.

Four children were born to this union, Leora, nee Mrs. J.W. Terman, Clifford, Mildred and Edna. The deceased became ill on December 1st, after catching cold while working in a gravel pit. Pneumonia developed and complicated with a weak heart his vitality ebbed rapidly. He died on the morning of December 12th, with his immediate family and his brother Lewis at his bedside.

As a man he was respected by all who knew him. He was always ready to lend a helping hand, and was liked by all his friends and neighbors. His loss will be deeply felt by those who were nearest to him.

Surviving is his wife, Ethel and their four children; one sister, Mrs. Ethel Boon; four brothers, Lewis, Elmer and Ellis of the Town of Weston; Clarence of Escanaba, Mich., and many other relatives.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon, December 15, at Schiller’s Funeral Home and at the Methodist Church in Neillsville, with Rev. E. P. Stone officiating. Burial was made in the Neillsville Cemetery.
