Swatzina, Edward (18 SEP 1937 - 15 SEP 1990)

THORP, Clark Co., Wis. - Services for Edward L. Swatzina, 52, Thorp, who died Sunday afternoon at Victory Memorial Hospital, Stanley, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Bernard-Hedwig’s Catholic Church, Thorp.

The Rev. John Puerner will officiate. Burial will be in Old St. Hedwig’s Cemetery, Thorp. Members of the Thorp Volunteer Fire Department will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be at Thorp Funeral Home, Thorp, from 3-9 p.m. today with a rosary service at 7:30 tonight.

He was born Sep. 18, 1937, in Stanley, to Leo and Marie Swatzina. He was a graduate of Stanley High School. He married Alvina Hera, Feb. 18, 1989, at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Thorp.

He moved to Thorp in 1959 and was employed at ITT Thorp Finance Corp. He became owner of Lange Office Supply, Withee, in 1977. At the time of his death he was a sales representative for Advanced Business Machine, Chippewa Falls.

He was an EMT and captain in the Thorp Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of the Withee Lions Club and the Holy Names Society of St. Bernard-Hedwig’s Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife; his parents of Boyd; two daughters, Ann Hefty of Circle Pines, Minn., and Mary Phillippi of Greenwood; four stepsons, Bruce and Bradley Nedza of Thorp, Douglas Nedza of Greenwood and Dan Nedza of Eau Claire; four stepdaughters, Sheila and Michele Nedza of Lakewood, Colo., Cindy Nedza of Eau Claire and Christine Nedza of Thorp; one brother, Gerald of Elk Grove, Ill.; one sister, Diane Stone of Georgia; and three grandchildren.
