Marden, Lester S. (Aug 1877 - 9 March 1939)
Neillsville - Funeral services for Lester S. Marden, 61, First Ward Supervisor who died Thursday morning at the Marshfield Hospital of embolism will be conducted at the Schiller Funeral Home here at 1:30 p.m. and at the Congregational Church at 2 p.m., the Rev. G. W. Longenecker officiating. Burial will take place in the Neillsville Cemetery.
About two weeks ago Mr. Marden fell on the slippery ice while on his way downtown, fracturing his left leg near the hip. He was taken to the Marshfield hospital, where his fracture was given medical attention.
While his recovery was expected to be slow, he was reported to be convalescing as well as could be expected until Wednesday, when embolism, which is the presence of obstructing clots in the blood vessels, developed.
Mr. Marden was born at Reedsburg, in August, 1877, the son of William and Charlotte Marden. When a young man, he came to Neillsville, where he was married on Dec. 22, 1913, to Eva Newell, who with a daughter, Mrs. Lynn (Irene) Wall, Evansville, and two sons, Erwin and Glenn, both at home, survive.
He is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Cora Andrews, Clay Center, Kansas; and by five brothers, J. E. Marden, Woodland, Wash.; Steven Marden, Bellevue, Wash., Ira Marden, Bainesville, Mont.; and George and William Marden, of Greenwood.
