Hartwig, William “Bill” E. (16 JAN 1944 - 22 MAY 2019)

William “Bill” E. Hartwig, 75, of Medford, passed away on Friday, May 17, 2019 at Aspirus Medford Hospital. Per his wishes, private family services were held at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Medford.

Bill was born on Jan. 16, 1944, the son of Thomas and Bernice (Michler) Hartwig in Marshfield. He attended Medford High School. On Dec. 14, 1963, he was united in marriage to Judith Fischer at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Medford. He continued in the family business that his father started in logging.

Bill enjoyed logging with his Timberjack, running through the woods with his Kawasaki "mule" and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Medford. Bill loved his family, children and grandchildren and his special cat, Peaches. He also loved gardening with his wife, Judy and eating all the fresh produce they harvested.

Bill is survived by his wife of 55 years, Judy; two children, Greg (Debbi) Hartwig of Medford and Lori Lynn (Jesse) Meyer of Spencer; two grandchildren, Sean Gregory and Ann Marie of Medford. He is further survived by his four siblings, Jean (Bob) Jensen, Richard (Betty) Hartwig, Pat (Harley) Waldhart and Jack Hartwig; and his nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, James; and a sister-in-law, Jane.
