Clark, Jerome M. (4 JUL 1856 - DEC 1940)

NEILLSVILLE, Clark Co., Wis. - Jerome M. Clark, 84, who, with his wife, has been residing with his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. L.M. Millard, Neillsville, for the past two years, died shortly after 11 o’clock Saturday evening of self-inflicted gunshot wounds.

A physician was called by the family as soon as the discovery was made, but he died within five minutes. Coroner P.C. Ludovic was summoned to the home and after an investigation, pronounced the case as suicide and said that no inquest would be necessary. Members of the family stated that Mr. Clark had been in ill health for some time and lately had shown signs of despondency.

He was born at Medina on July 4, 1856, spending his boyhood in that vicinity. He was married to Mamie Beggs OF Seymour, in Aug. 1889, and she, with two children, C.N. Clark, Antigo, and Mrs. L.M. (Sylvia) Millard, Neillsville, survive.

Also surviving are a daughter by a previous marriage, Mrs. Effie Benjamin, Neenah, and five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Mr. Clark was a resident of Gillett, Oconto Co. for forty years prior to coming to Neillsville, Wis.

Funeral services will be held at Gillett Tuesday.
