Parkhill, Susan (20 JUL 1829 - 2 JAN 1911)

Mrs. Susan Parkhill, a resident here for thirty-eight years, died at the home of her son Niles in the town of Hull, Marathon Co., Wis., Monday noon, Jan. 2nd, 1911, aged 81 years, 5 months and 13 days.

Susan Ann Niles was born at Galway, Saratoga County, N.Y., July 20th, 1829. She was married to Eli T. Parkhill, at New York Mills, on Nov. 15th, 1849. In 1867 the family moved to Marquette County, this state, and in 1873 came to Colby, settling on a farm in the town of Hull, north of this city, where she continued to reside until the death of her husband, Nov. 18th, 1888, since which time she has made her home with her son Niles most of the time. She was the mother of nine children, seven sons and two daughters, the daughters died in infancy. The sons, all of whom are living, are Wm. L. of Polley, Niles of Colby, Reuben E. of Abbotsford, H.J. of Antigo, George B. of Thorp, Jesse F. of Superior, and Fred A of Kalama, Wash.

Mrs. Parkhill was of a gentle, retiring disposition, and during her long residence here, she being one of our oldest settlers, made many warm friends who loved her living and now mourn her dead.

The funeral services will be held this Thursday morning at 11 o’clock from the M.E. Church, Rev. J.C. Martin officiating. The remains will be laid at rest in our silent city on the hill, beside those of her husband.
