Mrs. Joel Carpenter (Amalie) died Sunday of pneumonia, which disease she had contracted several days before. She was twenty-four years of age. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon from St. John’s Church in the town of Wein, Marathon Co., Wis., Rev. Schmalz officiating. It was one of the largest funeral ever held in that town, the procession being nearly a mile long. The following relatives from other localities attended the funeral: Mr. and Mrs. Mert Carpenter of Merrill; Miss Carrie Carpenter, Mr. and Mrs. F.X. Linder, Mrs. Gust Baesemann, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Marquardt, of Wausau; Mr. and Mrs. Otto Baesemann, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Baesemann, Mr. and Mrs. Hy. Baesemann and Mrs. Hannekrat and daughter of Rib Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Pankney and Chas. Carpenter of Edgar; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Carpenter and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Lotzer of Athens.
The deceased is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. August Baesemann of the town of Wein. She was united two and one-half years ago to Joel Carpenter, and they have for the last year made their home in Athens. She is survived by her husband and two children, the youngest but ten days old, her parents, six brothers and three sisters, one of whom is Mrs. Paul Lotzer of Athens.
