Head, Herbert D. (2 April 1851 – 30 April 1936)

Herbert D. Head, whose death occurred April 30 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. George Begley, was born April 2, 1851 to Mr. and Mrs. Jonathan Head of New York State, where he lived for some years. His parents moved to Iowa near Muscatine where they lived a few years when they moved to a farm near Black River Falls.

He was married to Miss Alice Janet Squire July 2, 1872. To this union were born six children, all of whom, except Mrs. George Begley, preceded him in death. Mrs. Head died May 21, 1912. Two sons, Charles and Frank died Dec. 19, 1909 and Dec. 21, 1909, respectively.

Mr. Head leaves to mourn his loss a sister, Mrs. Florence Brinkman of Waycross, Ga., and one daughter, Mrs. Begley, three grandchildren, Mrs. Fred Moore, Neillsville, Archie Begley of Poynette and Albert Head of Richland Center. There also were six great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews and a host of friends who mourn his loss. Mr. Head has been at the home of Mrs. Begley all winter.

Funeral services were held May 2 from the Free Methodist Church in Humbird with burial in the Mentor Cemetery.
