Chase, Anna (25 DEC 1870 - 13 NOV 1912)

Died of pneumonia at the Burmeister home in our city (Colby, Clark Co., Wis.), Wednesday morning, November 13th, 1912, Mrs. Frank Chase, aged 41 years, 10 months and 13 days.

All the care and love that skilled physicians and anxious household could devise and apply for her comfort and assistance were brought into play, but the law of Him who rules our incomings and outgoings had been issued and after a struggle, despite the prayers and entreaties of all who knew and loved her, their appeals were overruled and before the dawn, the sufferer’s spirit took its flight to that home the Christian believes is the fulfillment of the life everlasting.

It is difficult to pay a fitting tribute to the memory of the one whose every day life was embellished by the most lovable attributes of her six. No one was more willing to aid the suffering, cheer the desponding and sustain the weak, and when sickness and death came to her, as it comes to all, neighbors and friends vied with each other in acts of loving kindness and solicitude, and many were the willing hands and hearts ready to assist him, upon whom rested the heavy responsibility of attempting to fight the ravages of disease.

Much has been taken from this husband and little sons, and the large circle of relatives and friends. To these, we extend our heartfelt sympathy.

Anna Philippi was born to Mr. and Mrs. John Philippi, Dec. 25, 1870, at St. John, Calumet Co., Wis., where she resided with her parents until they moved to this city.

She was united in marriage to Frank Chase, on Sept. 6, 1899. To the were born three sons, Orville, Leslie and Francis, who with their father remain to mourn the loss of a devoted wife and mother. She also leaves a father, John Philippi of this city; two sisters, Katie and Laura of this city, and four brothers, Peter of Dale, Nick of Neillsville, Mike of Marshfield and John of Lake Villa, Ill.

The last services will be held at St. Mary’s Church, Saturday morning at 9:30, Rev. Artmann officiating. The remains will be laid to rest in the family lot in the Catholic Cemetery.
