Meyers, Clara (12 OCT 1888 - 6 JUN 1913)

Death again visited the home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Meyers, last Friday afternoon at 2:30, and took Clara from their midst.

Clara Meyers was born at Green Grove, Clark Co., Wis., Oct. 12, 1888, and made that place her home until, at the age of eighteen, she left for Winnebago, where she began her work as a nurse. Two years later she went to Mendota, where she continued her work. In 1910 she left for Pueblo, Colorado, where she attended a business college for nine months. After traveling in Utah, Montana, Washington and Oregon, she finally took up her work as nurse in the state hospital of California at Stockton. Here she remained until 1912, when she was taken sick and returned home July 20, 1912. From then until death she had been under her parents’ roof trying to fight off death, but she passed away, June 6th, 1913. She leaves to mourn her death, her father, mother, six sisters and one brother, who are stricken with grief at her death.

She was laid to rest Monday, June 9th, in the Green Grove Cemetery, Rev. A. Behrendt officiating, in the presence of people from all over the country, who came to pay their last tribute of love and respect to the dead.

Those present from away were: Mrs. Sullivan, Keenesburg, Colo.; Mrs. Bottered, Livingston, Mont.; August Meyers, Madison, and Mrs. Heide, Sheboygan Falls.
