Schmidt, Mary Elizabeth (14 April 1862 - 5 Dec. 1936)
Mrs. Fred Schmidt who had been in poor health since September passed away at her home in Neillsville early Saturday morning, Dec. 5, aged 75 years, seven months and 23 days.
Mary Elizabeth Lynch was born to John and Nancy Lynch at Mercer, Penn., April 14, 1862. She came to Neillsville with her parents at the age of three years where she has resided ever since.
In 1881, she was married to Edward S. Cummings. To this union two children were born: Gertrude, now Mrs. J. Frank Young of Uniondale, Ind., and Mabelle, who died in early children. Mr. Cummings died July 10, 1920.
In August 1934, she married Fred W. L. Schmidt, who survives. Two brothers, James and Richard Lynch, preceded her in death. Another brother, Abe, of Neillsville, and a sister, Mrs. Nettie J. Ely, of Kansas City, survive.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, Dec. 6, at Schiller’s Funeral home, Rev. G. W. Longenecker officiating. Out of town relatives did not receive word in time to attend the funeral.
