Mrs. Milford C. Rowe
Granton - Mrs. Milford (Irene) C. Rowe, 85, formerly of Granton, died at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Neillsville Memorial Hospital.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at York Center Methodist Church. The Rev. C. Arlene Denzer will officiate. Burial will be in York Center Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Warren Mechelke, Warren Davis, George Bixby, Richard Eibergen, Albert Hales and Clarence Hoesly.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Thursday at Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville, and Friday at the church for an hour before services.
The former Irene Counsell was born Sept. 27, 1899 in the Town of Grant, a daughter of the late Mrs. and Mrs. Josiah (Bertha Dettman) Counsell. She attended Reed School and graduated from Neillsville High School in 1917. She attended teachers training and then taught school for one year. She also worked at various jobs in Neillsville, Wis.
On May 31, 1928 in Neillsville she was married to Milford Rowe and they farmed in the Town of York for 55 years. They observed their golden wedding anniversary May 28, 1978. Her husband died May 2, 1983. Because of failing health she lived at Neillsville Memorial Home the past two years.
She was a member of York Center Methodist Church, and was organist there for more than 25 years. She also was a member of United Methodist Women and the York So & Sew Homemakers.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Gilbert (Shirley) Ahlborn of Minocqua; a son, Donald of Granton; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She also was predeceased by a grandson; two brothers, Clarion and Herbert; and two sisters, Nina and Ida.
