John Martin, 71, a resident of the town of Lynn for more than 50 years died at 9:30 o’clock, on Thursday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Dankemyer.
Death was attributed to hardening of the arteries.
Mr. Martin had been in poor health for the past six years and had been confined to his bed for nine weeks.
Funeral services were conducted at the Dankemyer home at 1:30 p.m. and at Zion Lutheran Church Granton at 2 p.m. on Monday, Rev. A. Laesch officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Mr. Martin was born at Kiel, Sheboygan County, March 4, 1868 and came to the town of Lynn with his parents in 1884. He worked in lumber camps for about eight years and on June 18, 1887 was married to Anna Sternitzky.
They lived on his father’s farm for about eight years and then settled on their own farm, which is now operated by Wm. Dankemyer.
Surviving are his wife and two daughters, Mrs. Gertrude Ross of Eau Claire and Mrs. Wm. Dankemyer of Lynn; a sister, Mrs. John Liebes, Pittsville; and three grandchildren. Two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
Those from away that came to attend the funeral were: Mrs. Ethel Larson and Howard Bovee of Clintonville; Mr. and Mrs. Harlow Sherman, Ferd Riedel, Sr.; Mr. and Mrs. Fred. Riedel, Jr.; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Martin of Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Jens, Plymouth; Mrs. Alice Washburn from Iowa.
