Sauer, Annabelle A. (17 NOV 1929 – 18 JUL 2019)

Annabelle A. Sauer, age 89, of Thorp, WI, passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2019, at Oakbrook Health & Rehab in Thorp. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 26, 2019, at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church in Thorp. Rev. Baskaran Sandhiyagu will officiate. Annabelle's grandsons serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.

Annabelle Amelia Hefter was born November 17, 1929, in the Town of Addison, Washington County, WI to Raymond and Viola (Peter) Hefter, Sr. She attended grade school at St. Peter & Paul Catholic School Nenno, WI. After completing her education, she was united in marriage to Arthur H. Sauer on October 9, 1948, at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Nenno. The couple first farmed on Arthur's homestead in the Town of Barton for seven years, then relocated to Fillmore, WI where they progressed with larger acreage from 1955 - 1965. Ultimately, Arthur and Annabelle and (heir six children moved to Thorp in 1966 to farm over 1000 acres until retiring in 1996.

Annabelle worked at Amity Leather Works and at the West Bend Company in West Bend, WI in her younger years. While living in Thorp, she was a dedicated employee at the Thorpedo Restaurant for 40 years. She showed strength as a breast cancer survivor. Annabelle loved to garden, play cards (especially sheepshead), going on scenic trips with Art, and was noted as an excellent cook. But most importantly, she loved spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She will be deeply missed by her three daughters: Carol Hedler of Wasilla, AK, Patricia Raven of Hay ward, WI Elaine (Frank) Horn of Thorp, WI; two sons: Michael Sauer and Jeffrey (April) Sauer both of Thorp, WI; and close family friend, Vern Stewart, of Eau Claire, WI; 22 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one brother, Thomas Hefter; sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arthur Sauer in 2009; one daughter, Darlene Sauer in 2008; one granddaughter, Julie Raven in 2019; two sons-in-law: Dennis Hedler in 2016 and Keith Raven in 2019; one sister; five brothers; and one brother-in-law.
