Bohn, Alvina (90th Birthday – 7 May 1975)

While it was far from her first Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 11, was an extra special Mother’s Day this year for Mrs. Alvina Bohn, whose family gathered to pay her particular honor in observance of her 90th birthday.

Mrs. Bohn was born May 7, 1885, in Russia, where she was married to Rudolph Bohn on October 6, 1904. The Bohn’s immigrated to Canada in 1909, and then moved to Kellner in 1933. Mrs. Bohn died in March of 1965 in Wisconsin Rapids.

Mrs. Bohn’s two sons and five surviving daughters, together with their husbands and wives, were all present for the get-together at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Martin Hillert, Rt. 1 Granton. They included Mr. and Mrs. Helmut Bohn of Riverdale, Il., Mr. and Mrs. Alton Schmidtke of Fort Atkinson, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Bucket of Union Grove, Mr. and Mrs. Hillert, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Rowe of Nekoosa and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Neinfeldt and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Bohn of Wisconsin Rapids. Another daughter, Mrs. Curt Borchert, passed away in July of 1974.

Also, in attendance were 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren, in addition to a niece and her husband, Martha and Ed Paesel of Kankakee, Il., and 12 friends.

Four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren were unable to be present.

Danny Johnston, a grandchild, also marked a birthday (his 14th) with a cake and birthday wishes from the assembled relatives and friends.
