Novak, Chester Joseph (July 19, 1913 - February 6, 1987)

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, February 9, 1987, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Marshfield, for Chester Joseph Novak, age 73, of 707 S. Cedar Ave., who died of cancer on Friday, February 6, 1987, at St. Joseph’s Hospital Hospice Care unit. Rev. Charles P Schumacher officiated and burial was in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Grandsons and other relatives served as pallbearers.

Mr. Novak was born July 19, 1913, in the Town of Dewhurst, a son of the late Casmir and Katherine (Kosmala) Novak, and attended Dewhurst schools (Bruce Mound School). On October 28, 1939, he married Helen T Szypula at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, Chicago. She survives him.

Prior to 1947, when the couple moved to the Hatfield (Bruce Mound) area to farm, he was employed at Diamond T Corp, Chicago. Relocating to Marshfield in 1951, he worked at the former Roddis Plywood Corp now Weyerhauser Co., until his retirement in 1978.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, United Brotherhood of Carpenters, Holy Name Society, and Joiners of America Local 1733.

Surviving him besides his wife, is a daughter, Mrs. Alvin (Joyce) Klawitter, Nekoosa; two sons, Wayne of Stratford and Dale of Marshfield; a brother Stanley of Westchester, IL; two sisters, Mrs. Walter (Rose) Jingle, SR of Merrillan, and Mrs. Joseph (Mary) Jakubowski of Augusta, eight grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by two brothers (Walter, and Stanley who died young) and a sister (Clara).
