Gault, Merrill P. (8 Aug 1903 - 17 Nov. 1937)
Merrill P. Gault was born Aug. 8, 1903, to Edith and Edward Gault in the town of Grant and died early Wednesday morning, Nov. 17, at Marshfield hospital from injuries suffered in the Monday previous near Spencer when a truck in which he was riding was struck by a Soo Line Train.
His mother died when he was 9 months old. He grew to manhood on the home farm, and worked in this community until he was married, being employed with the Ulen Construction Co at the time of the accident, where he made an excellent record as a workman.
On August 30, 1923, Mr. Gault was married to Geraldine Farning. Seven children were born to this union: Shirley, Margaret, Wallace, Patsy, Lou, James, and Raymond Lee, and baby Merrill.
Besides his wife and children, deceases is survived by his aged father, four brothers and one sister, Stewart of Neosho, Edward and Jason, Neillsville, Forrest of Watertown and Mabel (Mrs. Percy Northup), Town of Grant.
The funeral was held Saturday morning at 8:30 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church and was largely attended.
Among those from out of town who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. George Farning and Mrs. Harry T??mbull* of Blue Island, Ill., Wm. Hughes and Mrs. Wm. Farning of Milwaukee, Stewart Gault and wife, Neosha, Forrest Gault and wife, Watertown; Mrs. Clara Lee and son, Gerald, Reedsburg, Alvin Root and wife and daughter, Jean, Tripoli, Mr. and Mrs. George Wilson, Tomah, Mrs. Amber Gale and Frank Slaup* and son, Clarence of Milwaukee and a large number of friends, and co-workers of the Ulen Construction Co.
