Helwigs celebrate golden anniversary in Neillsville

Frank and Ann Helwig, Rt. 1, Neillsville, recently celebrated their 50th anniversary of their marriage. The marriage took place in Grenville, South Dakota on January 13, 1931.

The celebration included a reunion of Frank and Ann’s ten children and their families.

The day of the celebration, June 20, 1981, began with a mass at St. Mary’s Catholic Church celebrated by Rev. Aquinas Helwig, the oldest of the children. It was followed by a luncheon and open house at the Neillsville Country Club. The evening dinner was followed by a dance.

The ten children attending were the Rev. Aquinas Helwig, Philadelphia, PA; Larry Helwig, his wife, Marlene and children, Grace, Cathy, Julie, Jane and Amy, McLean, VA, where he works for the U. S. State Dept; Vickie Helwig, St. Louis Park, MN, who teaches at Minneapolis Community College; Frank Helwig, Fort Worth, TX, who is in the U. S. Air Force; Ann Hogan, her husband, Dan and children Danny and David of Edenton, NC, where he works for the U. S. Department of Defense; Andrew Helwig, his wife, Linda, and children Jenna and David of Logan, UT, where he is an assistant professor at Utah State University; Harry Helwig, his wife Dianne and children Terri, Shawn and Missy of Rhinelander, where he works for the Social Security Administration; Emery Sue Helwig, Marshfield, where she works for Hawkins, Ash, Baptie & Company; Daniel Helwig, his wife Sharon and children, Christopher and Curtis of Marshfield, where he is an architect with Boson Construction, and Adrian Helwig, Boulder, CO, where he is a student and works at a restaurant.

Other guests attending included Barb Matczynski, St. Louis Park, MN; Mr. and Mrs. Jim Helwig, Webster, SD; Veronica Kochanowicz, children Cindy and Mark, Philadelphia, PA; and many friends of the Neillsville area.
