Mary E. Stuhlman, age 80, of Weyauwega, and formerly of Neillsville, died Monday, August 17, 1987 at her home following a brief illness.
Mary was born April 27, 1907, in Neillsville to the late Fred E. and Minnie Ann (Raether) Wendt. After graduating from Neillsville High School in 1925 and Miss Brown’s Business College, Milwaukee, in 1927, she was employed as a private secretary at Veteran’s Hospital, Wood, Wisconsin, from 1927 until March 1929.
On May 2, 1929, she married Paul R. Stuhlman at Tacoma, Washington. They lived at McNeil Island, Washington, until 1931, then moving to Steilacoon, Washington. The couple resided there until June, 1936, when they then returned to Neillsville, Wis. In 1937, they moved to Waukegan, Illinois, and purchased a home near North Chicago in 1940. After retiring in 1965, they moved to Weyauwega.
She held various jobs including Montgomery Wards as a time payment clerk from 1949 to 1952; Great Lakes Naval Station Service School, 1941-1943; Abbott Laboratories of North Chicago, January 1952-April 1965. She was also a member of First Presbyterian Church and Women’s Association of Weyauwega.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Tom Graveen of Wausau; a son, Paul C. Stuhlman of Weyauwega; 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents, husband, three brothers, two sisters and one grandchild.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, August 20, at First Presbyterian of Weyauwega with Rev. David Dornack officiating. Burial will be in the Neillsville City Cemetery with graveside services at 1:30 p.m.
