Ziegler, Alvin Harry (8 June 1914 - 21 May 2006)

Alvin Ziegler of Marshfield, formerly of Neillsville, age 91, died on Sunday, May 21,2006 at the Three Oaks Nursing Home in Marshfield.

Alvin Harry Ziegler was born on June 8, 1914 the son of Theodore and Augusta (Ratsch) Ziegler of Neillsville, Wis. he attended school in the town of Seif. Alvin worked as a Coke-A-Cola Distributor and then went into farming. Later he owned and operated the Stables Bar and Night Club (now the Wildcat). After selling the night club, Alvin worked at the Neillsville Milk Products as a Cheesemaker and later as a hauler. Alvin then managed the Co-op Transport in Neillsville, Wis. Later, Alvin owned and operated the Ziegler Service Station in Neillsville now known as Drescher's BP. Lastly, he worked at and retired from Wick's Building Systems in Marshfield. Alvin was united in marriage to Esther Liebziet on Nov. 28, 1938 in Rochester, MN. Esther died on Dec. 29, 1970. Alvin then married Frances Brewer in Neillsville on July 3, 1971. Frances died on June 12, 1985 and later Alvin married Mavis Rossow in Racine, on Oct. 25, 1986. Mavis died on March 16, 1992.

Alvin was a member of the Neillsville Masonic Lodge #163, and he served as Master of the Lodge in the mid '70s.

Alvin is survived by two sons, Gary (Carol) Ziegler Sr., of Burlington; and James (Virjean) Ziegler, of Marshfield; three step-daughters, Phyliss Martell, of Anaheim, CA; Kay (Ross) Oestreich, of Sun Praire; and Sandra (Jerry) Houlder, of Cape Coral, FL; five grandchildren, Gary (Sue) Ziegler Jr., Curt (Lisa) Ziegler, Bart (Diane) Ziegler, Brent (Becky) Ziegler, Lynette (Ryan) Kelnhofer; one step-granddaughter, Jill (Mike) Bandli; eight great-grandchildren, Arlana, Ryan, Zachary, Brandan, Jordan, Hannah, Hunter and Will; three step-great-grandchildren, Alex, Beth and Brooke; two great-great-grandchildren, Alexander and Andrew; one brother, Harold (Lois) Ziegler of Benson, MN; and a sister, Arnita Hoffman of Crosby, MN.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Esther, Frances and Mavis; one brother, Clarence; and two sisters, Lillian Hoffmann and Alvina Babbe.

Funeral Services for Alvin will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 25, at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville, Wis. Pastor Ross Oestreich will officiate. Providing music will be Eileen Zank, organist and Corrine Armitage, soloist. Vistitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 24, at the Gesche Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Neillsville City Cemetary.

Casket Bearers are: Gary Ziegler Jr., Curt Ziegler, Brent Ziegler, Ryan Kelnhofer, Roger Liebziet and Dan Ziegler.

The Gesche Funeral Home of Neillsville is assisting the family with arrangements.
