F. C. Hulce transacted business in St. Point Saturday

This week J. A. Pettet placed a substantial frameguard around the stove in his hall to protect the basket -ball players. Mr. Pettet’s interest in the success of the team has been manifest on several occasions and is greatly appreciated by them.

A copy of Assembly bills No. 67 A and No. 69A introduced by Assemblyman, Irvine of Clark county, have received at this office.

The former is to amend section 1498s of the Wisconsin statutes, as amended by section 12, chapter 312 laws of 1899, relating to the granting of hunting license. As the law now stands all persons regardless of age who, desires to hunt the protected game in the state must first secure a hunting license from the clerk of the county wherein they reside. According to the proposed change as set forth in Mr. Irvin’s bill all persons under fourteen years of age are not required to take out a license. The bill was probably aimed at the flagrant abuse of the present law where licenses taken were out in the name of infants and in some cases of families carried on a wholesale shipment of deer on coupons so secured.

The latter is a bill to prohibit legislative lobbyist from attempting to personally influence the vote of members of the legislature and prescribing the penalty therefore. Both are good bills and should be enacted into law.
