Joseph D. Butler, 62, a long time resident of the city of Neillsville, where he had worked as an interior decorator, was found death in an upstairs room at the Albert Brandt home Saturday forenoon. Apparently Mr. Butler had come to his death the day before through use of a rope which was fastened to one of the rafters. Coroner P. C. Ludovic decided no inquest was necessary.

Mrs. Butler was born at Glencoe, Minn., Sept 14, 1875. He came to Neillsville from Oconomowoc in 1902 and was married here in 1905. For 39 years he followed the trade of painter and paperhanger.

The surviving relatives are the wife, who resides at Christie, a daughter, Mrs. Fred Grap, of Weston, and a son, Neil Butler, of Neillsville, Wis. Also two sisters, Mrs. Ralph Raymond of Minneapolis and Mrs. George Christie of Oconomowoc, survive.

The funeral services were held at the Lowe Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, the Rev. E. P. Stone officiating, and interment took place in the Neillsville Cemetery.
