Munson, Charles (? - Jan. 1905)

DIED SUDDENLY

Charles Munson, an old resident of the town of Spencer died suddenly in camp near McMillan last Saturday night. He had been in Spencer Saturday and had indulged to some extent in booze, toward evening he started for camp with a bottle of alcohol for company, when about a mile and half from camp he met one of the campmen who he invited to drink from the bottle. This is the last seen of him until he was discovered the following morning cold in death.

He had crawled into his bunk with all his clothing on including rubbers, cap and mittens.

The direct cause of his death is not known.

He was buried Tuesday from the M. E. Church in the village of Spencer.

Sunday morning the residents of Spencer were shocked to hear of the sudden death of Chas. Munson.  Mr. Muson was in town Saturday and returned towards evening to McMillan Camp where he was working.  Mr. Munson was about 70 years old and had been a resident of Spencer about thirty years.  He had no relatives in this country having come from Norway as a boy.  The funeral held at the M.E. church Monday afternoon was especially sad for there were no mourners except the many neighbors who have known him for many years.

Charles Munson died of heart disease last Saturday night at one of the McMillan logging camps.  He was found dead the following morning in his bunk. Munson who was an unmarried man, sixty-eight years of age, had been working in the woods all winter and last Saturday visited his home a short distance west of Spencer.  He walked both ways, a distance of 16 miles, and it is believed the exhaustion brought on a fatal attack of heart trouble with which he had been suffering.

RESEARCH by Marsha Hosfeld

This could be their marriage -- I don't know why there is no date.  Other marriages marked Vol 02 Page 0083 occur in Apr/Mar 1893.

I'm afraid that it is not a good spelling of her name. I could not find anything on it or similar.  Only 6 years before her death. May not have been her first marriage?
