Wood, LaFrance W. (1855 - 19 Sept. 1938) *First name taken from census records
L. W. Wood passed away at St. Mary’s hospital, Oshkosh, September 19, at the age of 83.
Mr. Wood came to Neillsville as Superintendent of schools in 1898. Remaining here for eight years, Mr. and Mrs. Wood and their two sons and two daughters became a part of the community, the home they purchased on Court street still being called the Wood house, and it was with deep regret that the city of Neillsville accepted his resignation when he took the position of first rural school inspector for Wisconsin.
Several years later he resigned that position and became state representative for D. C. Heath Company of Boston, Mass., publishers of books which position he held for 23 years and was retired on a pension.
He moved to Owen in 1914 and resided there until the past two years.
The funeral will be at Owen Thursday afternoon at 1:30.
