Baumgarten, Peter R. (23 APR 1952 - 22 AUG 2006)

Peter R. Baumgarten, 54, Spencer, died Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2006, in the town of Unity, as a result of a car accident. Funeral services were held on Saturday, Aug 26, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Colby. The Msgr. John Malik officiated.

Peter Raymond Baungarten was born April 23, 1952, to Raymond and Mildred (nee Bangart) Baumgarten and lived in the Kaukauna area, graduating from Hilbert High School in 1970. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison before moving to the Unity area in 1972. He was employed in a variety of jobs that showcased his various talents and skills. He realized his love of the land and open countryside as a farmer, his love of the air as a pilot, and his love of craftsmanship and creating as a builder. He was a friend to many and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He set an example of hard work and pride in a job well done as evidenced by many products of his exceptional handiwork. He derived enjoyment from many activities and was at one time involved in the Spencer Jaycees and active in Boy Scouts. He had a great appreciation for the outdoors and traveled much of the United States, hiking and sightseeing with his loved ones. He married Judith Reise in 1973, and they had five children together. He took great pride in his children and their accomplishments. In the last 1 ½ years, he added another love to his life as he became a grandfather twice. He always had a special place in his heart for his children and grandchildren. They added an extra sparkle to his eyes. He was eagerly anticipating the birth of his third grandchild and his absence will be greatly felt lives as well as the lives of many others.

He is lovingly survived by his parents, Raymond and Mildred Baumgarten; his children, Michael Cheri Wayerski) Baumgarten, Spencer, Sara (Chris) Heike, Mondovi, Matt (Anne Cobb) Baumgarten, Houston, Texas, and Katie Baumgarten, Spencer; his grandchildren, Ava Heike and Alexander Baumgarten; his sisters and brothers, Mildred (Edward) Schilling, West Allis, James (Trish) Baumgarten, Muskego, Jean (Paul) Kostuchowski, Plover, Linda (Jeff) Akin, Wauwautosa, and William (Lori) Baumgarten, LaCresant, Minn.; as well as many other family members.

Preceding him in death was his infant son, Mark, and several other important people in his life.

Maurina/Community Home, Spencer, assisted the family with arrangements.
