MaryEllen Kapfer March 8, 1934 - Aug. 24, 2006
MaryEllen Kapfer,72, of Black River Falls, died Thursday, Aug 24, 2006, in her home under the care of Black River Hospice.
MaryEllen was born on March 8, 1934, Rossville, Kan., to Lee Kenneth and Julia Katherine (Miller) Addy. She was raised in Topeka, Kan. and graduated from Topeka High School.
She married Bobby Lee Kapfer on June 20, 1953, in Topeka. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Neillsville, Rockford, Ill., Albuquerque/Santa Fe, N.M., Wisconsin Rapids and Medford before settling in Black River Falls.
MaryEllen had been employed at Hardee's, Subway, Paridigm and Kentucky Fried Chicken, all of Black River Falls.
She was a member of the Black River Falls United Methodist Church and the Miles-Hagen American Legion Post 200 Auxiliary.
MaryEllen was an avid bowler and bowled in city and state tournaments. She was a bowling league and city bowling league officer and was inducted into the Black River Bowling Hall of Fame.
Survivors include her husband, Bobby; her mother, Julia Depenbrink of Sierra Vista, Ariz.;a daughter, Lynda (James) Baxter of Black River Falls; two sons, Kenneth (Judith) Kapfer and Christian Kapfer both of Black River Falls; three grandsons, Jason Baxter and Tyler and Brandon Kapfer; a granddaughter Katelin Kapfer; a great granddaughter, Bailie Baxter; a sister, Julia Ann (Herbert) Bryan of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; and a sister-in-law, Marge Addy of Albuquerque, N.M.
MaryEllen was preceded in death by her father, Lee Kenneth Addy and a brother, Nathan Lee Addy.
Memorial services were held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday Aug. 29, 2006, from the Buswell Funeral Home in Black River Falls. Pastor Kathleen Jury officiated. Family and friends were invited for visitation on Tuesday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
