ZAWACKI FAMILY REUNION

The first family reunion of Stanley and Alexandria (Kowieski) Zawacki was held on July 2, 2006 at Cindy’s in downtown Thorp, WI.

Both were born in Poland and came to America by way of Baltimore in 1912. The home place was an 80-acre dairy farm six miles east of Thorp on X and 2 miles north on County O. Stanley and Alexandria’s family were Philomena Jarocki, Stanley Zawacki, Jr., Anna Kliminski, William Zawacki, and Elizabeth Sypniewski. Third generation Americans were Peter, Helen and Frances Jarocki; Frank, Joe, Julia, and Jeanette Zawacki; Mary and Chester Kliminski; Joann, Rose, Mary and Ted Zawacki; and Robert, Donald and Karen Sypniewski.

110 happy, enthusiastic people came for the catered dinner. All enjoyed viewing old pictures, receiving prizes and dancing to music by Ted Zawacki, Dwayne Schulz and Jack Burlingame of the North Star Express Polka Band. Above all, we enjoyed renewing old acquaintances and meeting new relatives. We look forward to our next reunion.

In loving memory of the deceased family members, a Mass was held on Saturday, July 1, 2006 at 8:00 p.m. with Father Keith Apfelbeck at the St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Church in Thorp.

Families came from California, Colorado, Ohio, Illinois, Minnesota and many from Wisconsin.
