Jensen, Jens (13 JUN 1859 - 29 MAY 1937)

Jens Jensen, 78, passed away Saturday, May 29th at 9 o’clock p.m. at the home of his daughter Mr. and Mrs. Carl Christensen at Loyal. Born in Denmark June 13, 1859, he came to America when a young man, worked on a farm for some time at Hutchinson, Minn. Later he was united in marriage to Kirstine Nyborg, also of Hutchinson, Minn. To this union six children were born, three girls and three boys. The oldest daughter preceded him in death in the year of 1909.

In 1903 Mr. Jensen, with his entire family moved to Withee, there he resided on a farm until after the death of his wife in the year of 1916, who died at the age of 54. He then retired from farming and made his home in the village of Withee, Wis.

Surviving are five children, Chris J. Jensen, of Bellefontaine, Ohio; Eilen (or r) T. Jensen of Ironwood, Michigan; Clara, Mrs. Nels Petersen of Minneapolis, Minn., Arthur J. Jensen of Eau Claire, Wis., Esther, Mrs. Carl Christensen of Loyal. Also eleven grandchildren and one great grandchild.

All were present at the funeral, together with their wives and husbands with the exception of one son Chris, who was unable to attend.

A short service was held at Loyal, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Christensen, after which relatives and friends accompanied the body to Withee, where funeral services were held at the Danish Lutheran Church, of which both Mr. and Mrs. Jensen had been active members for many years.

Burial took place in the church cemetery.
