Korntved, Andrew (March 18,1853 - July 4,1905)
The people of Unity and vicinity were greatly shocked Tuesday to learn of the sudden death of Andrew Korntved, one of the town of Brighton’s most respected citizens which occurred at nine o’clock that morning.
Heart desease (disease) was undoubtedly the cause of his untimely demise, death coming without a warning and without a struggle.
He was, up to within an hour of his death, apparently enjoying the best of health after assisting about the usual chores in the morning he complained of a pain about the heart. After taking some home remedy he lay down upon the bed. When his wife entered the room a short time after, he was apparently sleeping, a half hour later she again had occasion to enter the room when she discovered that he had entered the last long sleep.
Andrew Korntved was born in Hiels, Denmark, March 18,1853. In 1874 he came to this country, locating in New Jersey where he made his home until 1882 when he came to this county and with his wife and two children moved into the wilderness where he has, by untireing industry cleared up one of the best farms in Brighton. He was honest, industrious and generous although quiet and unassuming he always took an active interest in public affairs and his advice and counsel was often sought.
Besides a sorrowing wife he leaves six children, Peter, Soren, Christian, Anton, Johnie, and Jorgen, whose ages range from 28 to 9 years.
The funeral was held from the High School building Thursday at 2 o’clock the Rev. W. J. James officiating. The remains were laid to rest in the Unity cemetery.
The funeral was largely attended by the friends and neighbors who mourn with the bereaved family the departure of a true friend.
