Acker, Clarence "Dude" David (February 3, 1924 - July 13, 2004)

Clarence David Acker "Dude", age 80, of rural Stanley, WI went to meet the Lord on July 13, 2004 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 17, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at the Abundant Life Church in Thorp, WI, with Pastor John Sindler officiating. Burial followed in the Edson Union Cemetery in Edson, WI. Visitation was held on Friday, July 16, 2004 from 4 - 8 p.m. at the Plombon Funeral Chapel, Stanley, WI.

Clarence was born on February 3, 1924 in the Town of Wilson, Eau Claire, the son of Revel and Bessie (Lewallen) Acker. He grew up and attended Stanley Area Schools and then served his country during WWII in the U. S. Air Force. After re-turning home from his tour of duty he farmed on his dad’s home farm. On December 21, 1946 he was united in marriage to Genevieve Stelter in Walkerton, IN. He was employed at Ballband Rubber Co. of Mishawaka, IN and then upon returning to Stanley area he worked and attended mechanics and welding school. In 1960 Dude and Gen purchased and operated the Pleasant Valley Store. In 1970 they purchased the home farm and farmed until he retired in 1981. Dude enjoyed life, the outdoors, and his loving family.

Clarence and Genevieve were blessed with 11 children and his is survived by his wife, Genevieve and children: David (Linda) Acker of Stanley, WI; Debra (Francis) Gwiazdon of Thorp, WI; Barry (Judy) Acker of Stanley, WI; Daniel (Phyllis) Acker of Stanley, WI; Rhonda Forshier of Chippewa Falls; Randy (Terri) Acker of Stanley, WI; Roger Acker of Wheeler, WI; Brian (Sandra) Acker of Stanley, WI; Christine (Robert) Becker of Red Wing, MN and Scott (Carol) Acker of Gilman, WI; 44 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Irene Kiser of Warsaw, IN and Helen Constable of Osceola, IN and one brother, Forest (Joan) Acker of Mishawaka, IN.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Harold and William, one infant son and one infant grandson, Jesse.
