Koslo, Sophie Cecilia (April 14, 1911 - January 25, 2005)

Sophie C. Koslo, age 93, of Thorp, WI passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2005 at Oakbrook Health & Rehab in Thorp.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 29, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church in Thorp with Rev. Keith Apfelbeck officiating. Burial followed at New St. Hedwig’s Catholic Cemetery with family members serving as pallbearers. Visitations were held on Saturday one hour prior to services at the church.

Sophie Cecilia Dobrzynski was born on April 14, 1911, in the Town of Withee, rural Thorp, to Valentine and Catherine (Pietras) Dobrzynski and attended area schools. She married Wallace Koslo in 1931 in Thorp and worked for the local Ben Franklin Store for many years. She then moved to Eau Claire, where she worked at Kresge’s Department Store. Sophie later moved to Milwaukee where she worked for Gimbel’s Department Store as a sales associate.

She is survived by her two sons: Harold (Judy) Koslo of Germantown, WI, and Wallace (Carol) Koslo of Chetek, WI; seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Wallace; two brothers: Wallace and Andrew; and three sisters: Louise, Eleanor, and Stella.

Thorp Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
