Darton, Mr./ Mrs. Frank (Silver - 1930)
Silver Wedding Observed
From the Wibaux (Mont.) Pioneer Gazette the following write-up of an epochal event is taken. Mrs. Darton was the older daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. B. Leonard. She graduated from the high school and taught in the rural schools of the county preceding her marriage.
The Pioneer Gazette says,
"On Sunday last, June 22, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Darton were give a surprise at their home about five miles northeast of Wibaux, when about one hundred and twenty-five neighbors and friends gathered to congratulate them and help them celebrate their silver anniversary"
A delicious picnic dinner was served on the lawn, the bride and groom and their son, Lyell, being seated at a table which was beautifully decorated with carnations.
During the afternoon various kinds of entertainments were enjoyed. There was a ball game between younger men and the married men. Some of the guests spent the afternoon visiting, while others sang a number of songs, which were popular in the days gone by.
A trio consisting of Frank Darton, piano; Lyell Darton, banjo; and Mr. Jensen, violin, played a number of old time pieces which were much enjoyed."
Mr. and Mrs. Darton were married at Augusta, Wis. and have lived at their present home continuously for twenty-four years. They are well known throughout the county, as well as neighboring counties and are held in high esteem by their many friends. They were presented with a very substantial purse of silver.
