Frederick 'Fritz' Stelter

NEILLSVILLE -- Fred E. "Fritz" Stelter, age 86, of Neillsville, died Thursday, Nov. 9, 2006, at the Memorial Health and Rehabilitation Center in Neillsville, Wis.

Funeral Services for Fritz will be held at 11 a. m., Monday, Nov. 13, 2006, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Neillsville, Wis. Pastor Timothy Biebert will officiate. Music will be provided by Judy Trunkel, organist and Natasha Cole, soloist.

Interment will be in the Neillsville City Cemetery. Casket Bearers are his grandsons, Michael Blaszkowski, David Kren, Frederick Stelter, Todd Krehmeyer, David Herron, Ryan Pagenkopf, Kevin Kren, Jeff Stelter, Daniel Kren, Dallas Walker and Nick Walker.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., Sunday at the Gesche Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. until service time Monday at the church.

Frederick Ernest Stelter was born on Dec. 26, 1919, in the town of Pine Valley, Clark County, the son of Ferdinand and Ottilie (Fritzke) Stelter. He attended St. John's Grade School and graduated from Neillsville High School. Fritz was united in marriage to Elizabeth Embke on Dec. 11, 1943, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Neillsville, Wis. He farmed most of his life on the home farm just north of Neillsville, Wis. He also worked in soil conservation, was the Assessor for Pine Valley township, and worked as a postal carrier in Neillsville for 29 years, retiring in 1982.

Fritz was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Neillsville, Wis. He was also a past secretary for the Co-op Transport in Neillsville, Wis. In his spare time he enjoyed ice fishing, playing cards and deer hunting at Beetle's shack.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; seven children, Diane (Stanley) Blaszkowski of Stratford, Sandra (Richard) Kren of Watertown, Frederick Stelter of Milwaukee, Linda (Daniel) Krehmeyer of Springfield, Mo., Yevonne (David) Herron of Marshfield, Barbara (Mark) Cattanach of Neillsville and Gail (Donny) Walker of Neillsville; 25 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren; one sister, Bertha Gloff of Elmhorst, Ill.; and many nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, William and Oscar; and four sisters, Lydia, Emma, Alvina and Rosaly.
