Mrs. Jacob Matti

Mrs. Jacob Matti passed away suddenly about 10 o’clock last Friday morning at her home near this village. For the past five years her health had failed, but she had performed her household tasks as usual and her sudden death came as a great shock to the family and a large number of relatives and friends.

Rosa Widmer was born Oct 5, 1873 in Canton, Bern, Switzerland. She came to America with her parents when she was eight years of age, they locating near Maximo, Ohio. While living there she was confirmed in the Reformed Church.

On Aug 5,1893 she was married to Jacob Matti of Salem, Ohio. During her married life she lived in Ohio and Wisconsin. The family located in Houghtonburg in the spring of 1912, returning to Ohio after four years. They also lived for a while at Mt. Horeb, and the last three years lived on a farm a mile east of Humbird.

Mrs. Matti leaves to mourn her death her husband and six children, Mrs. Emma Houghton and Ernest, both of whom reside near Humbird, Fred, Ida, Minnett, and William of Cleveland, Ohio, and four grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters, Mrs. Ralph Thompson, and Mrs. Edith Grindel, of Cleveland, O(hio), and Mrs. A. C. Nebel, residing in New Jersey; and two brothers, Gottlieb Widmer of Cleveland, and Jacob Widmer, in Texas; besides a number of other relatives.

At the time of her death on May 8, 1931, she had attained the age of 57 years 7 months and 3 days.

Funeral services were held at the Reformed church Monday afternoon, Rev. V.D.Weidler preaching the sermon, and interment was in Mentor cemetery.

Relatives and friends from away present at the service were: Fred, Ida, Minnett, William Matti, Mrs. Ralph Thompson, Mrs. Edith Grindel, Gottlieb Widmer, Mrs. John Hiltbrand, Mrs. Elsie Huhn of Cleveland; Mrs. Emil Mueller, Beloit, Ohio; Mr. and Mrs. Leopold Hiltbrand, Mr. and Mrs. Bodcher of Mt. Horeb.
