Fitzmaurice, Ellen (12 Sept. 1863 - 4 Dec. 1932)
Ellen Snow Fitzmaurice was born Sept. 12, 1863, near Humbird and died at the hospital at Black River Falls, Dec. 4, 1932, after a two week illness of mastoid infection and complications, aged 69 years, 2 months and 22 days.
She was married to Clark Olden Markham in 1882. To this union were born nine children, two daughters and seven sons. She was preceded in death by her husband, who died 23 years ago, one daughter, Mrs. Clara Beede, and four sons Chester, Jay, Avery, and Lloyd.
The family home was made on a farm east of this village for several years, and later in Augusta vicinity, until the death of the husband, since the mother resided with the Irwin Beede family near Merrillan.
Mourning her death are one daughter, Mrs. Ruby Haines, of Strum; and three sons, Ira, of Lindsey; Walter of Eau Claire; and Maurice of Strum.
She leaves nineteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. One sister survives, Mrs. Hester Harteau, of Chicago. A number of nieces and nephews, and other relatives mourn her death.
Funeral services were held at the Reformed church Wednesday afternoon, Rev. Weidler officiating.
Many relatives and friends accompanied the cortege to Mentor cemetery where interment was made in the family lot.
