Sires, Emma Jane (29 May 1856 - 18 Dec. 1932)
Emma Jane Sires was born May 29,1856, and died Dec. 18,1932, aged 76 years, 7 months and 9 days.
Deceased was born in Richland county, Wisconsin. At the age of three years she came with her parents to Jackson county, and lived on the farm now owned by Leonard Hobbs .Later her father, Alex Sires bought the farm where they lived until she was twelve years old, then moving to Black River Falls. Miss Sires was a graduate of the Black River Falls high school, a member of the class of 1876. Later she taught in this community for a number of years.
In the year 1906 when her father died, she went to Montana to live with her mother, remaining there until her mother’s death.
In the fall of 1931 she returned to Wisconsin, and made her home with her cousin, Mrs. Leonard Hobbs, now deceased.
Since last spring she has resided in this village. Death came after a few days illness, at her home with Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Field.
She leaves to mourn her departure one sister, Mrs. Victoria Ives, of Evanston, Ill.; one brother, Albert Sires, of the state of Washington; and a number of other relatives and friends.
Rev. E. A. Wolfe, officiated at the funeral service, which was held at the Free Methodist church on Tuesday afternoon.
Burial was in the family lot in the Sanford Cemetery, west of Alma Center.
