Schulze, Herbert W. (? - 4 MAY 1936)

The body of Herbert W. Schulze, foreign war veteran, was brought here (Owen, Clark Co., Wis.) from Los Angeles, Calif., Sunday evening, and taken to the Griebenow-Weirich Co. undertaking parlors, where on Tuesday afternoon funeral services were conducted, the Rev. W.P. Powell, pastor of the Congregational Church, officiating.

Herbert Schulze was the son of Mr. and Mrs. August Schulze, residing nine miles northeast of Owen, Wis. He enlisted in the regular army before the world war, and served seven years in the service. During the world war he was wounded several times, and was the recipient of many medals, both from the American and French armies. His wounds however, left him an invalid, and for the past ten years has been a patient in the government hospital for soldiers. The cause of his death was diabetes.

At Pine Hill Cemetery, where his body was laid to rest, the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Abbotsford took charge of the service. Impressive military rites were had and taps sounded.

Besides his parents, he leaves to mourn, two brothers, Elroy of Owen, and Edwin of Kitcairn, Penn., and three sisters, Mrs. Sylvester Rees of Minneapolis, Mrs. George Funk, Withee, and Viola Schulze of Spokane, Wash.
