Miss Catherine Schmitz, Chicago, daughter of Mrs. Catherine Schmitz, Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.), exchanged wedding vows with Peter Hefner, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Hefner Sr., Chicago, before the altar of St. Mary’s Catholic Church at Greenwood, Saturday, Feb. 13, 1943, the date of Mrs. Schmitz’ birthday anniversary. The Rev. J.J. Novak read the 9 a.m. nuptial mass.
The bride, attired in a white satin gown made with lace inserts and a long train, carried a bouquet of white roses. Her veil, edged in lace, was caught to a seed pearl headdress. Mrs. Joseph Herr, in a pink taffeta dress and carrying pink carnations, was matron of honor. Miss Mary Ann Schmitz, bridesmaid, wore an aqua gown and matching headdress and carried pink carnations. Both are sisters of the bride.
Carl Schmitz, sister of the bride, and Jack Bertz, nephew of the bride, were trainbearers. Carol was attired in a floor-length peach taffeta dress and Jackie in a dark blue suit.
George Heffner Jr. and Otto Schmitz of Chicago, brothers of the groom and bride, respectively, attended the groom.
Following the ceremony a dinner was served to the guests at the home of the bride’s mother. Pink, blue and white streamers festooned the rooms and a wedding and a birthday cake were centerpieces at the table. That evening a party was held at the Parkway Tavern and the young couple received a number of useful and attractive gifts.
On Wednesday Mr. and Mrs. Hefner returned to Chicago where they are employed and where they will make their home.
Guests included Mr. and Mrs. George Hefner Sr., George Hefner Jr., Otto Schmitz, and Miss Louise Michele, Chicago, and Joseph Schmitz, Sparta.
