Williams, Mattie (25 June 1854 - 17 Feb. 1940)

Mrs. Mattie Williams, 85, passed away at her home of her son, Milford Williams, York Township Saturday after a year’s illness.

Funeral services were held from the Williams home Monday, Rev. William A. Bauman officiating. The body was taken to Stevens Point for interment.

Mrs. Williams was born in Christiana, Norway, on the 25th of June, 1854. She was the daughter of Michael and Helen Amerson. When she was thirteen years of age, her parents came to the United States, the family settling in Wisconsin.

In 1874 she was married to Solomon Williams at Neenah, Wis., and to them were born nine children. Mr. Williams died 32 years ago.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Richard Popke, Pittsville, and Mrs. Lena Cronknite, West Mound, Ill., and four sons; Leo, whose whereabouts is not known; Ed, Wisconsin Rapids, George, Granton; and Milford. Thirty-six grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren also survive.
