Burmester, William (20 MAR 1883 - 19 NOV 1937)

Funeral services were held at the Griebenow funeral home here Monday afternoon for William Burmester, 54, who died of apoplexy at 9 o’clock Friday morning at the Clark County Hospital. The Rev. E.G. Pfeiffer officiated at the rites, and burial took place in the town of Longwood Cemetery.

Mr. Burmester was born March 20, 1883, at Hanover, Germany, and came to the United States when still a child. For a time the family stayed in New York, later moving to a farm in Taylor Co., Wis., where they resided before settling in the town of Longwood.

Since his father’s death 30 years ago, Mr. Burmester operated the home farm until illness compelled him to give up his work several years ago. He was a member of the Braun Settlement Reformed Church. His mother died four years ago, and a brother died two years ago.
