NEILLSVILLE -- Helen Gertrude Becker, age 95, of Neillsville, died on Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2006, at the Memorial Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral services for Helen will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 30, 2006, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Globe. The Rev. Daniel Cole will officiate. Providing music will be Virginia Thoma, organist.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Interment will be in the Neillsville City Cemetery. Serving as casket bearers will be James Ehlers, Justin Ehlers, Danny Dux, Bob Bennett, Joel Bennett and Fred Gregar.

Helen was born on Sept. 27, 1911, in Oak Park, Ill., the daughter of John and Mary (Benhardt) Gregar. She graduated from the Youngman School in Oak Park. She then went to work to help support her family after the death of her father. On Dec. 21, 1930, she was united in marriage to Henry Becker. They farmed in the Necedah area for many years. In 1952, they moved to a farm in the town of Weston, near Neillsville, which they operated until 1971. They then worked for their son, Terry, at the Holiday Gas Station for about 10 years. Helen loved flowers, crocheting and baking. Helen will be lovingly remembered as a generous and devoted mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her son, Terry (Joyce) Becker of Neillsville; her daughter, Joan (Gordon) Oswald of Tomah; four granddaughters, Pam (Robert) Bennett of Tomah, Cindy (James) Ehlers of Neillsville, Leslie Oswald of Minneapolis, and Tammy Becker of Palm Desert, Calif.; and two great grandsons, Justin Ehlers of Neillsville and Joel Bennett of Madison. She is further survived by a brother, George (Evelyn) Gregar of Necedah; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Henry; a great granddaughter, Jennifer Bennett; and siblings, May Mlejnek, Anne Martinek, Joe Gregar and Betty Kulhavy.

The Gesche Funeral Home is assisting Helen's family with funeral arrangements.
