Scholze, Elizabeth Maud (February 18, 1918 - December 13, 2006)

Elizabeth Scholze, age 88, formerly of Humbird, passed away Wednesday, December 13, 2006, at Oakbrook Health and Rehabilitation Center in Thorp.

Elizabeth Maud Scholze was born in the Town of Little Black, Taylor Country, February 18, 1918, to Frank and Cora (Peckham) Fritsche. She attended rural Dorchester school until the eighth grade. When Elizabeth was 16, her mother passed away, and after that time, she helped care for her younger siblings at the family farm. As a young woman, she moved to the Chicago area and did house work in Evanston, IL.

She returned to Wisconsin in the mid-1940s and December 5, 1945, she was united in marriage to Louis C. Scholze of Humbird. The couple lived in the Humbird area all of their married life, moving to a farmstead in 1948 where they farmed until retiring in 1976. After retiring, they moved to a small neighboring farmstead where they lived until Louis entered the Fairchild Healthcare Center in 1994. Elizabeth then moved to a mobile home on their farm, where her son Marvin lives. She resided there until entering the Fairchild Healthcare Center in 1999. In 2003, she moved to Oakbrook Health Care and Rehabilitation Center, Thorp, where she resided until her death.

Elizabeth enjoyed reading and working puzzles. She was a gifted speller and kept her skills sharp by working crossword puzzles.

She is survived by four sons, Marvin (Minnie), David (Sue), Duane (Ann) all of Humbird, and Allen (Barb) of Fall Creek; daughter, Marilyn Scholze (Paul Thomas) of San Francisco, CA; 16 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She is further survived by one sister, Ruth Holman of Buffalo Grove, IL; sister-in-law, Delores Voight of Missouri; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lawrence (Nancy) Scholze, Frank (Ilene) Scholze, Reuben (Janet) Scholze, Leone, Mary, Ella Jean, and Verna Scholze; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, Clarence and Alfred Fritsche; and two sisters, Verona Fritsche and Olive Pipgras.

Funeral services were held Monday, December 18, 2006, at 11 a.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta with burial in the Mentor Cemetery in Humbird. Friends called from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to services Monday at the funeral home.
