John Schultz, son of Charlie and Caroline Schultz, was born in Germany, March 1, 1852. He passed away in Neillsville Saturday, May 18, 1940, at the age of 88 years, two months and sixteen days.

He was married to Caroline Waccholz, in 1876. To them were born eight children, five of whom preceded him in death. He came to America in 1881. He lived for a number of years in New York and Lemont, Ill., also working a mason in Chicago. In 1900 he came to Clark County and took up farming in the town of Levis. Since the death of his wife in 1923, he has made his home with his son, Albert, and wife in Pine Valley.

The surviving children are: Lena, Mrs. John Zimmerman, Shawano, Wis.; Ida, Mrs. Robert Radtke, Krakow, Wis., and Albert, Pine Valley.

Mr. Schultz has been in poor health for about five years, but was able to get about the house until six weeks ago. Since that time he had been confined to his bed, growing weaker gradually until death relieved him at 3 p.m. Saturday.

The pallbearers were selected from among his friends and included: Helmuth Schultz, Robert Jackson, William Wedekind, Henry Dahnert, August Goeters and Herman Meyers.

The last rites were held at the Schiller Funeral home Monday afternoon, G. W. Longenecker officiating. Interment was made in Neillsville Cemetery.
