Bowen, Rose A. (1 SEP 1916)

Two weddings of much interest to the people of Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.) were solemnized on Friday, Sept. 1, 1916, when Rose A. Bowen became the bride of Charles R. Howard, and Beatrice Howard became the bride of Harry W. Rieger of Chicago. The Rev. J. Scott Willmarth officiated in the presence of the immediate relatives and friends.

The first ceremony took place in the parlor of the Central Hotel. To the beautiful strains of the Lohengrin Wedding March, the bridal party took their places under an archway of hydrangea and fall roses. Miss Bowen was Miss Howard’s bridesmaid and Mr. Howard was Mr. Rieger’s best man. The bride wore a dark green broad cloth suit trimmed with seal and a hat to match. She carried Ophelia roses. Miss Bowen wore a navy blue tailored suit with a large hat and carried roses.

Immediately after the ceremony the guests departed for the Bowen residence, where the second marriage was solemnized, Rev. Willmarth again officiating. Hydrangea and roses were artistically used in the decorations here. Mr. and Mrs. Rieger attended Mr. Howard and Miss BOwen, Wis. Here the bride wore a dainty white dress of batiste trimmed with exquisite silk lace and carried bride roses. Mrs. Rieger wore a white dress of serge and georgette crepe and carried roses.

Marguerite Thrapp was flower girl and ring bearer. Her dress was white net over silk. She carried a basket of roses. Mrs. Ada Thrapp played the wedding marches. Following the ceremonies a wedding luncheon was served.

Both brides and Mr. Howard are well known among the people of Greenwood. Miss Bowen has been teaching at Superior, while Miss Howard and Mr. Rieger were graduates of the University of Wisconsin this year. Mr. Rieger is from Chicago and holds a position with the Northwester railroad.

The out of town guests were: Mrs. W.L. Rieger and Mrs. E.L. Dill of Chicago, Mr. Smith of Beloit, and Mr. Homer Root of Neillsville, Wis. The Greenwood guests were: Mr. and Mrs. S. Andrews, Mrs. Willmarth, Mr. H.M. Knipfel and Mr. O.J. Thompson.
