Hodnett, Esther (20 JAN 1893 - 8 APR 1936)

Esther Wolters was born at Fall River, Wis., Jan. 20, 1893. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. August Wolters. When a little girl she moved with her parents to a farm southwest of Withee (Clark Co., Wis.). Here her father also started a general merchandise store, and the place became known as Wolters Corners. She clerked in her father’s store for a number of years before her marriage.

On Oct. 28, 1916, she was united in marriage to Lynn Hodnett. They lived on a farm near Wolters Corners for 19 years. To this union was born six children, Mildred 18, Henry 16, Fern 15, Harold 13, Pearl 11, and Marlene, 9 months old. Besides her husband and children, she leaves to mourn her death, her mother, five sisters and two brothers.

She died at the Chippewa Falls Hospital Wednesday, April 8, 1936, from blood poisoning caused from a scratch from a needle in her finer. Funeral services were held Saturday at the Griebenow-Weirich Funeral Chapel, Rev. Powell officiating. Interment was made at Riverside Cemetery.

Mrs. Hodnett was held in the highest esteem by the many who had known her during her residence in the Withee community. She was a devoted wife and affectionate mother, and she gave unsparingly of her time and attention to the welfare of her home and family. She was also a kind and considerate neighbor, ever ready and willing to be of aid and assistance to those about her. She was given to the courtesies and words of cheer which endeared her friends to her. The deepest sympathy of her friends and neighbors goes out to her family and relatives in their bereavement.
