Northup, Francis Albert (29 March 1970 - 27 Sept. 1940)

Francis Albert Northup, aged 70 years, five months and 29 days, passed away at 9 a.m. Friday, September 27, 1940, at the Neillsville Hospital. He had been confined at hospital for the past week with heart trouble.

Mr. Northup, the eldest son of Francis O. and Julia E. Northup, was born March 29, 1870, in the town of York, Clark County. Being a native of this community he grew up with it and saw it develop from a wilderness and had a share in that development. He spent about 10 years working in the bark woods and lumber camps at Phillips, Wis. Mr. Northup never married.

The departed leaves to mourn his death two brothers, Edward Northup of Neillsville and Percy Northup of the town of Grant, seven nieces and five nephews and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by one sister (Julia), Mrs. Parker Metcalf, who passed away October 4, 1927.

Mr. Northup was a kind and thoughtful brother and friend doing everything possible to help others and will be greatly missed in the community.

Funeral services were held at the Schiller Funeral Home Monday at 2:00 p.m., September 30, conducted by Rev. Wilson M. Bixler, interment taking place in the Neillsville Cemetery. The pallbearers were: Frank Kubat, Geo. Reindel, John Krejci, El Gergen, Louie Cornest and William Hurlburt.
